A Poinsettia from our church

At this time of year, our church, Glen Cairn United Church, has a tradition of giving Poinsettias to members who suffered during the year. A few years ago, when my Dad died, we received a Poinsettia and a visit from a member of the Pastoral Care Team. We appreciated that very much.
This year we were surpised to receive a call from a friend, Robert, a member of the Pastoral Care Team. He asked, "When would it be convenient for him to drop by with a Poinsettia?" We arranged a time and then had a discussion as to why we were receiving one this year. No one in our family was seriously ill, in hospital or had died.
When Robert arrived the mystery was solved. Poinsettias were also being delivered to all church families in our neighbourhood that had suffered through the July 24th flood. On reflection this event, from which people are still recovering, was a major trauma not only for the individuals affected but for the whole community. Our thanks and prayers of thanks for this gesture go to the Pastoral Care Team.
