The angel of Burslem

Family oral history from Anne's family states that this angel was modelled after Anne's Great Grandmother. The angel sits on the top of what was the Town Hall in Burslem, one of the "Five Towns" that amalgamated to form the City of Stoke-on-Trent. The angel was placed on the top of this civic building before amalgamation. According to family history this happened when the father of the angel model was Mayor of Burslem. His daughter acted as his Lady Mayoress.
Anne took this photograph of the angel at a time we visited England and our home town. The angel was on display at Royal Doulton's while it was being restored.
