A basket for Gabrielle

Earlier this week, I called my youngest son, Nathan, to ask for suggestions about a birthday gift for our grandaughter, Gabrielle. While he was coming up with suggestions for a lively soon-to-be five-year old, I heard Gabrielle saying, "I want a basket." So here it is.

A smallish market basket with an oak "D" handle.

I wove the base with an open weave. If you click on the photograph you will see the fine joints of the "D" handle. I purchase these from WHBaskets of Port Rowan, Ontario. The handles need only some finishing sanding and a light coating of beeswax before I can use them.

The pink pony beads are an extra element for my grandaughter's enjoyment.

  1. This is just the sweetest basket! I think I like this almost as much as your English shopping basket. It is just too sweet for words - you did a great job :)
