Adrian makes amends

Today I attended a meeting with several of Adrian's caregivers at his day program. One story, told at that meeting, illustrated his ability to try to make amends for his behaviours.

One day, not so long ago, lunch was a sandwich with meat, lettuce and tomato. Adrian ate his quickly and was still hungry. So he helped himself to another sandwich, one that was the lunch of one of his caregivers. She missed it and found out who had eaten it. "I have no lunch. You ate my sandwich. What are you going to do about it?"

Adrian said he was sorry, and then made her another sandwich of mayonnaise and jam. He then left the room. The caregiver was appreciative of his care and his attempt to make amends, but she did not eat the sandwich.
